Job description

Objective: Will work as part of a multi-functional team with the Client, Partners and UAS. Sell, Build and Deliver to design, prove and pilot olutions that meet the needs of our clients’ Digital strategies and align with UAS’ business objectives. In effect, the he/she is the ‘Storyteller’ and will be responsible for the end to end solution including the industry and business approach, implementation methods, use of technology, business and IT processes and will influence the commercial and financial models.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive how UAS’ Digital Solutions work to transform the clients’ businesses, so the he/she must understand the business and the industry by actively researching their sector to determine business issues 
  • Understand complex business problems and commercial frameworks and how to apply a logical, systematic approach to arrive at an appropriate solution 
  • Understand what represents best of breed from a technology perspective in your customer’s vertical market 
  • Create a value proposition that is directly linked to a client’s business model and issues and the learnings from above activities. Establish technical credibility with existing and prospective clients, providing the ability to cultivate relationships and envision creative solution strategies that align to the digital strategy at the client 
  • Define the digital solution across process, application and infrastructure layers, to respond to the business challenge through prototype, MVP / pilot to production. Act as the Product Owner or Voice of Client for creating the prototype or MVP required in the solution 
  • Understand and make full use of UAS and partner ISVs demonstration and capability for producing proofs of concept and prototype solutions 
  • Lead cross-organization, multi-functional teams in a collaborative approach to solution discovery, design and development. 
  • Performs a current state assessment of client’s environment at a level appropriate with the opportunity 
  • Where possible from client documentation and interaction, determines the Current State Architecture (and with assistance from Practice Leads and subject matter experts) 
  • Helps identify areas where UAS can deliver higher value to clients 
  • Develops the client’s enterprise architecture framework (or subset) to provide context for the proposed client solution 
  • Presents the solution architecture as a compelling value proposition to clients for competitive advantage in the pursuit 
  • Provides solution knowledge-transfer to assist in the successful hand-off to Delivery 
  • Provides architectural governance and monitors transition and transformation progress to identify variations, ensuring that impacts are assessed and appropriate action is taken

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Has previously performed successfully as a pre-sales solution architect, preferably on strategic services deals; 5+ years industry experience, preferably across services delivery and pre-sales solutioning 
  • Working knowledge of the industry and its challenges and successes. Good knowledge of disruptors and disruptions in the industry. 
  • Should have led end to end solutions spanning application development, implementation (Agile, DevOps and traditional waterfall), application management and testing including estimates and pricing. 
  • Should have experience in running large deals, RFP/RFI independently from a technology perspective 
  • Professional attitude with a focus on providing end-to-end support, solutions that meet the client’s needs and aligned with UAS’ direction 
  • Influences others to accomplish difficult tasks they would not have done on their own. Commands attention and respect from others, including leaders, peers and cross-functional groups. Makes a positive difference in anything he/she is involved in and is seen as a change agent 
  • Consulting aptitude, focusing on solutions selling 
  • Experience in several key technology areas including technical integration of systems and applications/services at an enterprise level 
  • Where possible from client documentation and interaction, determines the Current State Architecture (and with assistance from Practice Leads and subject matter experts) 
  • Knowledge of contemporary Digital technologies and platforms, including CX, mobile app dev, APIs, SaaS, MicroServices, OSS, AI and Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Edge, IaaS, PaaS, CaaS and FaaS; as applicable to their industry. Needs to understand how these technologies and platforms intersect with industry related business patterns to meet the specific use cases 
  • Understand the concepts of Lean approaches and the details of Agile methodologies and related methods (e.g. SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, DAD, Nexus, Agile, XP development, DevOps); be able to apply these as appropriate in different client contexts and solution phases. Must have played a product owner or requirements analysis role 
  • Familiarity with business and technical concepts such as business process design, applications development and service management.
  • Outstanding communication including written, diagrammatic and oral and able to reduce complex ideas to simple terms and express these to both a non-technical and technical audience 
  • Need to have a broad base of skills and experience and will need to work in small teams in an autonomous manner 
  • Confident; competitive; collaborative; has gravitas/presence; highly articulate in both business and technical contexts 
  • Knowledge and certification in ITIL v3, Architectural Frameworks (e.g. TOGAF), Vendor Based (e.g. AWS, Microsoft, ServiceNow etc.)
